A 19-Year-Old Estero Woman was Killed Shortly After Midnight Sunday After Her Car Struck a Boat on Interstate 75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving south on I-75 on the inside lane near the Bayshore Road exit when the front of her sedan hit the boat, which had unfastened and dislodged in a crash moments before.
Authorities said the boat was previously being towed by a pickup truck moving north on I-75 but was unhitched from the trailer in a crash and crossed the median into the south lanes of the interstate. It came to a rest in the inside lane.
After the woman’s sedan collided with the boat, the car rotated and collided with the front of a tow truck being driven south on I-75. The tow truck came to rest partially on top of the sedan.
FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
