Fort Myers Police Department said a Lee County deputy patrol car was involved in a crash with another vehicle Monday.
Police responded to the accident which happened at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Veronica S Shoemaker Boulevard where a deputy car ended up in a ditch after a crash with another vehicle.
According to Fort Myers Fire Department, the deputy was able to get out of the patrol car safely and had minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also had minor injuries.
Both the deputy and driver of the other vehicle involved were taken to the hospital so they could be treated as a precaution.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that the deputy was fine.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The scene of the crash was cleared.
