According to the report, a dump truck crashed into a sedan resulting in a fatality on State Road 82 at Columbus Boulevard.
Report says, 20-year-old Jonathan Otero died after failing to yield at a stop sign. A dump truck struck the left side of Otero’s car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Deputies reportedly shut down State Road 82 for about four hours to investigate the crash. The road reopened just before noon.
According to 2018 crash report in September, ten people were taken to the hospital after a truck and van collided. Months before that, a man was killed after a car and SUV crashed. Both times a driver never stopped for the stop sign at the SR-82 and Columbus Boulevard intersection.
SR-82 is heavily traveled during the morning and evening commutes as it connects drivers from Immokalee and Lehigh Acres to Fort Myers and into North Fort Myers.
It was reported that roughly an hour after this fatal accident, another crash impacted traffic on SR-82.
This accident is still under further investigation by the authorities.
