Florida Highway Patrol said, a 55-year-old bicyclist was killed when he was struck by a truck on U.S. 17 near the Duval-Nassau County line.
The bicycle rider was identified as David Eugene Adams. He was reportedly riding a motorized bicycle south on the paved shoulder of North Main Street when the incident happened. According to FHP’s report, Adams was knocked off his bike by a pickup truck and onto the road when he was struck by a second pickup truck.
According to a report received from a family friend of Adams, he was said to be leaving his home in Yulee and heading to Oceanway to visit a friend when he was hit and killed. The friend added Adams has lived in Northeast Florida with his entire life.
According to the FHP report, charges are pending against the first driver that struck the bicyclist on U.S. 17 near the Duval-Nassau County line.
