A 60-Year-Old Man Struck Two Motorcyclists with His Toyota SUV Causing Severe Injuries to Both Riders on Dixie Highway, JSO Said.
JSO said the driver was northbound on Dixie Highway in a 2010 Toyota Prado. Two Harley Davidson motorcycles were stopped on the highway while attempting to make a left turn. The Prado failed to acknowledge the motorcycles and struck both bikes from the rear.
A 37-year-old male riding one of the motorcycles sustained severe injuries in the accident, police said. The other motorcyclist, a 30-year-old, sustained life-threatening injuries and both were transported to a nearby hospital immediately upon JFRD arriving at the scene.
According to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Prado driver sustained only moderate injuries. He was taken to the hospital for treatment as well. According to first responders who had to stabilize him for transport, one of the motorcyclists was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Jacksonville Sheriffs’ Office is investigating the accident. No charges have been filed yet.
