Two Women were Killed and Three Other People Suffered Injuries After a Two-Vehicle Crash in Putnam County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 6:52 p.m. on State Road 26 near Swan Lake Drive.
The crash occurred when a 43-year-old man driving an SUV west on State Road 26 crossed over double yellow lines to pass another car, the FHP said. The SUV hit an oncoming sedan driven by a 33-year-old woman head-on.
The 33-year-old woman, as well as her 24-year-old female passenger, both died at the scene, according to the FHP.
Officials said the driver of the SUV, as well as two children in the vehicle with him, were all injured in the crash. The driver and the younger of the two children were both seriously hurt, while the older child received minor injuries, the FHP said.
