Two People were Killed in a Crash that Happened on I-95 near Miami Gardens Monday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in the southbound express lanes near the exit for Miami Gardens Drive.
Troopers said two vehicles, a Dodge pickup truck and a Saturn sedan, were involved in the crash.
Two persons inside the Saturn died at the scene, according to authorities.
Family members of the victims later came to the scene visibly emotional and distraught.
Troopers shut down southbound I-95 at Ives Dairy Road for several hours to investigate the fatal crash. The lanes have since reopened.
Aerial footage captured a white truck on the right shoulder of the interstate near the crash scene. It is not yet clear whether or not that vehicle was involved.
Crews have extricated the bodies of the two deceased victims. A van belonging to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner also arrived on the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
