A 65-Year-Old Woman is Fighting for Her Life After Being Struck by a Vehicle on Lem Turner Road.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 9:29 p.m. on Lem Turner Road near Ida Street when the woman stepped in front of a Nissan Altima that was heading west.
First responders took the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
JSO said the driver of the Altima, identified as an adult male, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The woman is known to be homeless and has a history of mental illness, JSO said. Alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
