Report Says an Accident at an Intersection on Southwest 56th Street Sent a Mother and her 4-Month-Old Baby to the Hospital with Serious Injuries.
According to the news release by officials, the crash happened at the intersection of Southwest 56th Street and Southwest 107th Avenue where a 20-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a vehicle and injured a mother and her infant.
The mother and her 4-month-old baby were traveling in a Ford Mustang when the vehicles collided at the intersection. Report says the baby was ejected from the car during the crash. Investigators found a car seat inside the vehicle but were unsure if the baby was in it or if the baby was properly secured in the vehicle.
The baby was taken to the nearest medical center by helicopter with critical injuries where. The mother of the child sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as well. The driver remained at the scene of the crash and was questioned by police.
Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
