Troopers Say a Driver Struck a Pair of Bicyclists in Alva on Sunday morning, Killing One Before Fleeing the Scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 8:30 a.m. on North River Road just west of Sands Drive.
According to authorities, the bicyclists were traveling in a group eastbound on N. River Rd. when they were struck from behind.
A 64-year-old Fort Myers woman was killed and a 49-year-old Bonita Springs woman was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to the FHP.
The vehicle that struck the pair left the scene. No description of the vehicle or its driver has been given.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call *FHP or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS.
