It has been Reported that a Car Accident in Miami Lakes Left a Teenager Dead and Another Fighting for Her Life.
Reporters say the New Year started with tragedy in Miami Lakes after a car crashed into a canal resulting in the death of a 19-year-old male and sending a teen girl to the hospital.
According to the report, Miami-Dade Police and dive team members arrived at the scene near the intersection of Miami Lakes Drive and Jacaranda Lane.
It was confirmed by the police that 19-year-old Christopher Jamie Leyva was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old girl was taken to Palmetto General Hospital in critical condition. According to the information gathered, she has been identified by family members as Dezirae Joseph.
Reports, however, indicated that two other men, both 18 years old, were able to get out of the car uninjured.
Authorities have not released additional details of their investigation.
