The Florida Highway Patrol is Investigating a Crash that has Left Four People Injured After their Vehicle Rammed Into a Toll Plaza on Florida’s Turnpike.
Law enforcement officials say the four victims were in a single vehicle when the crash occurred. The vehicle they were traveling in was heading southbound on the Florida’s Turnpike near Palm Aire.
Troopers said the vehicle first struck a barrier, the small wall that protects the toll booths, before crashing into the plaza itself. The vehicle caught fire after it came to a standstill following the collisions.
Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene of the accident soon after the incident was called in to administer first aid treatment on the injured victims before airlifting them to the nearest Medical Center for proper treatment. Reports say that all of the occupants of the vehicle were injured in the accident with serious injuries. A Florida Department of Transportation traffic camera showed four rescue units and two helicopters landing at the accident site.
No details about the victims have been released to the press at the time of this report and authorities say the accident is still under investigation.
