Authorities Said a 10-Year-Old was Hit by a Car and Injured Thursday Morning While Walking to His Bus Stop in Bonita Springs.
The boy was walking along Bonita Drive off Old US-41 Road when he was struck near Woods Circle.
A helicopter was dispatched to fly the child to Lee Memorial Hospital, but it couldn’t find a place to land, so he was taken by ambulance.
An eyewitness said she doesn’t know who’s to blame. She said the ongoing roadwork makes it tough for everyone.
“The road is a problem because of the construction, and the children really don’t know which side to ride on because of the construction.”
The boy suffered a large gash on his leg and some other cuts during the ordeal, but his condition has not been made available.
The sheriff’s office has yet to share its crash report.
