According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a Jacksonville man died after he crashed into a tree on Julington Creek Road.
Investigators identified the driver of the crashed car as a 22-year-old Corey A. Winn. It was reported that he was traveling eastbound when his car failed to make a turn on Julington Creek Road near Del Rio Drive. JSO said, his car left the roadway and struck a tree.
The officials have not yet determined the cause of the accident. It is unknown if he lost control while trying to avoid an obstruction or a damaged road. It may also be that he nodded off while behind the steering wheel.
According to the report, Winn was transported to a local hospital where he died.
This continues to be an active investigation, according to JSO, and is the 29th reported traffic fatality in 2019.
