Report says northbound lanes of Alligator Alley have re-opened following a multiple vehicle crash that killed a young girl, while eight people were hospitalized.
Broward County Sheriff Fire Rescue Department reported that the accident took place at mile marker 43 in the northbound lanes of I-75, Alligator Alley. This happened between US 27 and the Broward-Collier County line.
It was reported that three vehicles were involved in the crash. One SUV rolled over and ejected a girl identified as a 9-year-old Emyi Tatiana Aguilera Torres. Reported says she was in the SUV traveling to Bradenton with her mom and two friends; a 7-year-old and a 12-year-old, when the crash happened.
According to the Investigators, it was believed that the SUV was hit by a car, causing it to flip. Troopers think that same car then hit another car.
Eymi Tatiana’s mom Jensy said her daughter was ejected and she searched for her but was not able to find her. Eventually, she realized her daughter was trapped under the SUV.
According to the reported, no charges have so far been filed, but the investigation continues. It was reported that the family of the child who died said they hope to return her body to her native Honduras.
