Report says the woman who was hit by a SUV while crossing Colonial Boulevard was pronounced dead at Lee Memorial Hospital.
According to the report, Ileana Rivera Ortiz, 50, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The crash reportedly occurred near Colonial Boulevard and SR-82 in Fort Myers, where she was found lying in the street.
It was reported that Sergeant Eppler with the Fort Myers Police Department said that traffic homicide detectives are investigating the crash.
Report says the driver who struck her left the scene after the crash. Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they had a person and vehicle of interest surrounded at the CVS near Miromar Outlets. Sgt. Eppler said, the person of interest believed to have hit the victim is a woman who was driving a small, black SUV. It is unknown at this time if the woman has been arrested.
The Fort Myers Police Department reported that all westbound traffic on Colonial Boulevard at SR-82 was blocked, but the scene has since been cleared.
