A driver was critically injured after running a red light and striking another vehicle at the intersection of Northeast 79th Street and 2nd Avenue.
According to reports, the crash occurred at the intersection of Northeast 79th Street and 2nd Avenue where the 35-year-old driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was headed east. It was reported that driver in the Dodge ran the red light at the intersection and struck an Audi Q7 SUV that was attempting to turn left from 2nd Avenue.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that there were three occupants in the Audi SUV when the incident happened. The driver of the SUV sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the passengers sustained traumatic injuries. They were all treated at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver in the truck and sole occupant was critically injured in the crash. He was found unconscious due to trauma to his head and also received severe back injuries. He has also been transported to the nearest hospital.
The police said the crash is still being investigated and charges have not been filed yet.
