Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Units Reportedly Responded to the Scene of the Wreck in the Area of Northeast 10th Avenue at Victoria Park.
According to the report, a drive in a Victoria Park neighborhood ended in an accident that left one person dead and sent another to the hospital.
Area residents said one of the two vehicles involved crashed into a tree so hard that it burst into flames.
The report further highlighted that before the car struck the tree, it barreled into a street sign and sent it flying about 30 yards away.
Residents said they called 911, but the flames were so fierce that there was nothing they could do. One of the residents said “I’ve never seen anything with flames that aggressive and that high. I was afraid the car was going to blow up, to be honest.”
It was reported that paramedics transported the surviving victim to the nearest hospital in unknown condition.
Based on the sights and sounds, neighbors believe the drivers were drag racing. However, investigators have not confirmed this.
Fort Lauderdale Police is assisting in the investigation.
