According to Fort Myers Police, a 25-Year-Old Pedestrian Suffered Injuries in a Vehicle Accident Along Colonial Boulevard.
It was reported that an accident occurred on Colonial Boulevard at the intersection of Plantation Road. According to the statement, a 25-year-old man was struck in the crosswalk along the intersection.
the report says the 45-year-old driver of a Ford SUV drove above the speed limit and was unable to stop at the approaching red light. Then, the SUV rear-ended another car that had stopped for the pedestrian to cross. The SUV pushed the stopped vehicle which then struck the pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim lying unconscious on the road. They stabilized the pedestrian and transported him to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, authorities reported. The driver of the rear-ended car also sustained minor injuries but EMS treated the driver on the scene.
The police said they took the SUV driver in for questioning. Police are still investigating the accident and they have not filed charges at the time of reporting.
