A 33-Year-Old Punta Gorda Woman and Her 11-Year-Old Passenger have Died After a Crash at State Road 31 and Little Farm Road, Officials Said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was pronounced dead on scene and the child died a day later in the hospital from his injuries.
Troopers responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m. Investigators said the Punta Gorda woman didn’t make a complete stop at a stop sign and drove in front of a semi-truck.
The truck slammed into the left side of the Punta Gorda woman’s car, according to the crash report. The 31-year-old Hialeah man driving the semi suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Authorities said the crash is still under investigation.
