According to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, A Teenager Died After He was Struck by a Vehicle on Cedar Point Road and Sawpit Road in the Timucuan Preserve Area.
It was reported that the 14-year-old boy was struck by a car near the Oceanway area died from his injuries. This happened when he reportedly ran into the street to get to his family’s van.
Report says the two-lane road leads to Cedar Point – a popular fishing and scenic area.
Police said the 14-year-old boy ran out into the road to get to his family’s van and was struck by a vehicle.
Kevin McCarthy, who lives nearby, said the teenager was fishing off a small bridge on the side of the road. McCarthy further said Cedar Point Road is dangerous for how fast people drive.
Traffic was backed up on Cedar Point Road due to the crash.
