The Florida Highway Patrol Reported that a Woman was Killed and Two Men were Seriously Injured in a Three-Vehicle Crash Near the Shands Bridge.
The report says the crash happened on State Road 16 near the Shands Bridge.
A pickup truck was reportedly traveling west on State Road 16 when the driver suddenly veered from the westbound lane. Consequently, it went into the eastbound lane and struck the front of a sedan. A second sedan, according to the FHP, then collided with the rear of the first sedan. The sedan was traveling east on State Road 16 behind the first sedan.
It was reported by FHP that the driver of the first sedan, a 62-year-old Green Cove Springs woman, died in the accident. Her passenger, an 89-year-old Green Cove Springs man, was seriously injured. A 32-year-old St. Augustine man that drove the pickup truck was also seriously injured, according to troopers. However, the 23-year-old driver of the second sedan was reportedly uninjured.
The driver of the pickup truck was not wearing a seat belt, though the others involved in the accident were, according to the FHP report.
